Favourite Things: Jeroen Bakker

Who would be your dream horse to ride?

Before it always was Totilas - Now I would really love to feel Glamourdale’s canter He’s otherworldly.

Favourite food?

I love so many different foods. But my all-time favourite is French cheese with bread and champagne. Cotton candy is a close runner up.

Juan De Dios Ramirez Garcia

Favourite colour horse?

That has to be black. A bit predictable but I just love the magic of it.

Favourite drink?

Not a surprise, and a bit cringe maybe, but definitely champagne.

If you could have five people for dinner, who would they be?

As you'll see from my answer to the equestrian hero question, I can easily pick a few of them! And if that’s not possible then I’m always in for dinner with my closest friends.

Who is your equestrian hero?

I have several. Edward, Anky, and Hans Peter are my Dutch heroes of all time. Charlotte, Carl, Isabel and especially Patrik Kittel are my heroes from foreign countries. Patrik is a big inspiration for me.

Ehren Volk dressage rider

Beside dressage, what is another discipline that you would like to try?

I never tried reining before, would love to learn more! Also, on some horses i love jumping! I actually don’t do it enough, but the feeling of flying is incredible.

Burghley Horse Trials

Favourite holiday destination?

Difficult! Anywhere with my best friends. I love France, Ibiza, USA, Austria, I can’t pick actually haha! But if i have to pick one: South of France.

Favourite way to relax?

I have multiple, depending on how much energy I have. I love to sing, but that’s not always relaxing (especially for the neighbours) Also something that involves a couch, pizza and Netflix really relaxes me. In the car I always sing, listen to podcasts, from fun stuff to educational readings, from inspirational speakers to true crime; I love it all. If I have more time and energy I love having fun with friends, going to dinner and clubs etc.

Proudest achievement?

I’m really proud of schooling my self-owned horse Igo to Grand Prix, it was a long and bumpy road and I’m proud that I kept my faith and focus. But I’m more proud of him! Also competing at Grand Prix level with Christon is one of my proudest achievements. He’s a fantastic horse, but his energy level, coping mechanisms (to put it nicely haha) and talent are sometimes challenging. When we do thrive it feels like magic.
